HC Deb 27 October 1970 vol 805 c105W
Mr. Barnett

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will introduce legislation to strengthen the National House Builders' Registration Council; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Channon

The scheme operated by the National House-Builders' Registration Council for setting minimum building standards and protecting purchasers against faulty workmanship covers about 95 per cent. of private housing. We have no evidence that legislation to strengthen the Council is needed but we are watching closely the operation of their scheme. If the hon. Member has any information he would like me to consider I shall be glad to receive it.
