§ 78. Mr. Bruce-Gardyneasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what study he has given to the scope for unilateral tariff cutting by the United Kingdom Government.
§ Mr. NobleOur interests are best served by multilateral tariff reductions, and, subject to the House's approval, we shall be reducing tariffs over the coming months as a result of the Kennedy Round agreements and our decision to grant preferences to developing countries. I do not think general unilateral cuts by the United Kingdom would be appropriate now.
