HC Deb 30 November 1970 vol 807 c259W
77. Mr. David Stoddart

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what advice has been given by his Department to the Electricity Council in connection with the current salary claim by industrial staff in the electricity supply industry.

Mr. John Davies

As the House knows, the Government take a grave view of the current wave of inflationary wage claims and settlements and the damage and hardship which they are bound to cause to the economy and to many individuals. I have, of course, made known our views to the Electricity Council.
