HC Deb 27 November 1970 vol 807 c237W
Mr. Money

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will consider giving serving prisoners the benefit of legal aid on proceedings before visiting magistrates where these are liable to result in a loss of more than a period of one month's remission.

Mr. Carlisle

My right hon. Friend does not think that this is necessary or practicable.

Mr. Money

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will review the power of visiting magistrates to award a loss of remission amounting to a period of over three months on any sentence.

Mr. Carlisle

My right hon. Friend is satisfied that this power is a neecssary sanction for serious offences against prison discipline.
