HC Deb 26 November 1970 vol 807 cc186-7W
Mr. Crawshaw

asked the Minister of State for Defence what provision is being made for the accommodation of the uncommitted reserve of 10,000 proposed for the Territorial and Army Volunteer Reserve.

Mr. Ian Gilmour

The additional centres to be used will be selected from the 150 former TAVR III Centres, which were retained for use in a possible future expansion, and from those former Territorial Army centres which I withdrew from disposal in July of this year.

Mr. Crawshaw

asked the Minister of State for Defence what discussions he has had with the Territorial and Army Volunteer Reserve Associations to plan the recruitment of the uncommitted reserve of 10,000 as outlined in the Supplementary Statement on Defence Policy.

Mr. Ian Gilmour

A meeting was held on 5th November and the proposals discussed at this meeting are now being considered further in conjunction with the Territorial, Auxiliary and Volunteer Reserve Associations.
