HC Deb 26 November 1970 vol 807 c181W
13. Sir J. Langford-Holt

asked the Minister of State for Defence whether members of the Armed Services who have been convicted for driving a motor car with more than the permitted amount of alcohol in their blood are required or asked to leave their Service.

Lord Balniel

Members of the Armed Forces committing an offence of the kind mentioned by my hon. Friend are not automatically required or asked to leave the Service. However, a serious view is taken of the offence, and depending on the circumstances, including the amount of discredit brought upon the Service, the offender could be required to leave the Service.
