asked the Secretary of State for Wales what schemes are in the trunk road firm programme for the years 1971–72 to 1974–75.

The following trunk road schemes each costing over £100,000 are firmly programmed:

  • A5—Strengthening Britannia Railway Bridge for future carriageway.
  • A5—Penlon Llan—Llanfair P.G.
  • A5—Cefni Bridge and Approaches.
  • A40—West of Banc-y-Felin.
  • A40—Black Bridge, Whitland.
  • A40/A.4076—Haverfordwest Southern Bypass.
  • A44—Tyn-y-Llechwedd—Llwyn-yr-Hyddod.
  • A44—Marteg River Bridge.
  • A48—Chepstow Inner Relief Road.
  • A55—Improvement near Halkyn.
  • A55—Chaingates Junction to Casino Junction.
  • A458—Improvement at Pont Cerist.
  • A458—Brigands Inn, Mallwyd.
  • A465—Aberdulais—Llandarcy.
  • A465—Glyn Neath Bypass.
  • A470—Glyntaff—Abercynon.
  • A483—Wrexham Bypass.
  • A483—Penrhiw—Glasfryn, Llandeilo.
  • A487—Tyn-y-Groes Hotel—Ganllwd Road.
  • A487—Diversion and New Bridge at Pont Dolbenmaen.
  • A487—Mill Street—Penglais Road.
  • A494—Allt-y-Gwine—Pantgwyn.
  • A496—Tal-y-Cafn—Furnace Bridge.

Work will start on a considerable number of further schemes during the period but these are at present still in the preparation pool. In addition, many schemes each costing under £100,000 will be carried out.
