HC Deb 25 November 1970 vol 807 cc154-5W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what the additional £4 million for primary education will represent in terms of extra expenditure each year per head of the primary school population from now until 1974–75.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

It is not possible at this stage to forecast by financial years the incidence of the expenditure which will result from the additional £4 million of building starts in 1972–73.

Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how much of the additional £4 million for primary education will be spent on new buildings, upgrading present schools, improving clerical assistance and purchasing books and equipment, respectively.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

The increase is for capital expenditure only. It is too early to say how it will be distributed.
