HC Deb 24 November 1970 vol 807 c107W
Mr. David Clark

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment on how many occasions each year he estimates that the M62, or parts of it, across the Pennines will be closed to traffic on account of wind, snow and any other climatic conditions respectively.

Mr. Michael Heseltine

The design of this motorway incorporates the results of much research on protection from exceptional weather conditions but it is impossible to predict to what extent the motorway might, nevertheless, need to be closed.
