HC Deb 23 November 1970 vol 807 c7W
55. Mr. Hooson

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what representations have been made to him by teaching bodies and education authorities in Wales with regard to his proposals for transfer of responsibilities in the educational field to the Welsh Office; and what replies he has sent.

Mr. Peter Thomas

My right hon. Friend, the Secretary of State for Education and Science last month invited all the main local authority and teachers' associations to comment on a draft circular dealing with this transfer, and all these bodies had meetings with officials on 20th October. Subsequently my right hon. Friend saw a deputation from the Welsh Committee of the National Union of Teachers, and soon I shall myself be seeing members of the Welsh Joint Education Committee and Chairmen of Education Committees and their Directors of Education.
