HC Deb 20 November 1970 vol 806 cc495-6W
Mr. Chapman

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what talks have taken place with the Federal German Government to increase the amount of money provided by both Governments for youth exchange programmes under the Anglo-German agreement; and with what results.

Mr. Anthony Hoyle

Following a general review of central Government expenditure on youth exchanges in preparation for the Estimates for 1970–71, the British contribution to British-German exchanges was increased from £30,000 to £50,000 for the current financial year. The Federal German Government are understood to have made a corresponding increase, from DM 300,000 to DM 500,000.
