asked the Secretary of State for Wales what proportion of the cut in principal roads in Wales announced of £0.4 million in 1971–72 will relate to Carmarthenshire.

No road scheme in Carmarthenshire programmed to start in 1971–72 will be deferred.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the amount currently expended by central Government on roads in Wales per head of population; and what is the corresponding amount for England.

Mr. Peter Thomas

For the year 1970–71 the per capita expenditure is expected to be about £7.3 for Wales and £6.5 for England.
