HC Deb 18 November 1970 vol 806 cc421-2W
86. Mr. Burden

asked the Minister of State for Defence if the pay ledger account sheet/transfer list on which is stated the date of discharge of men from the Royal Navy and which is not accepted either as proof of final discharge or final payment, will be replaced by a document that is accepted as proof of final discharge and payment by social security employment officers, in view of the fact that the present system causes delay in discharged men obtaining social security benefits.

Mr. Kirk

No. Although the pay ledger account sheet does not of itself provide this evidence, this and other documents given to Royal Naval personnel on discharge provide all the evidence required to prove that they have been discharged and are entitled to claim any appropriate social security benefits.
