asked the Minister of State for Defence if he will make a statement about the fire at Gordon Barracks, Gillingham, on 30th October.

A fire which occurred at about 2 a.m. on 30th October, 1970 at Gordon Barracks, Gillingham, destroyed a wood-framed hutment. Seventeen soldiers were sleeping in the part of this which was in use, but they all evacuated the bulding without injury. The fire started in the unoccupied part of the hutment and its cause is being investigated.
