HC Deb 18 November 1970 vol 806 c413W
74. Mr. Eadie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what additional administrative costs will be involved in the National Health Service in Scotland as a result of increased prescription charges.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

There will be some expense arising from the increase of prescription charges to 4s. on printing of forms and notices. As most of these would have had to be reprinted because of decimalisation the additional cost due to the increased charge will be minimal.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the average cost of individual items on each prescription dispensed in 1965 and in each subsequent year to the present date.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

The Report on Health Services in Scotland in 1969 contains figures of the average cost for the years 1965 to 1969.
