HC Deb 16 November 1970 vol 806 cc339-40W
Mr. Laurance Reed

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what studies he is making of marine pollution.

Mr. Peter Walker

As my hon. Friend is aware, marine pollution poses a wide range of complex problems arising from different kinds of pollutant, such as sewage, pesticides and various forms of industrial waste; different methods of disposal; and the varying oceanographic and fisheries characteristics and legal status of different parts of the seas. I am very much aware of the growing international interest in this important problem. I am at present reviewing all of these aspects.
