§ Mr. Harperasked the Secretary of State for Employment what unfilled places there are at Government training centres in the Yorkshire and Humberside Region; and what steps he is taking to fill them.
§ Mr. Dudley SmithThere were 209 unfilled places on 2nd November, including a substantial number in construction trade courses for which recruitment is at present restricted because of the level of unemployment in that industry. For the rest, our officers are encouraging all potentially suitable candidates to apply for retraining, drawing the attention of employers to the facilities for sponsored employee training, and generally publicising the types of training available at Government training centres.
