HC Deb 12 November 1970 vol 806 cc222-3W
39. Mr. Nicholas Edwards

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what representations he has received from the Motor Agents' Association about the operation of the training board for the industry and, in particular, about the Industrial Training Levy (Road Transport Order, 1970) No. 1062; and what reply he has sent.

Mr. Dudley Smith

The association made written and oral representations to my Department in April and May this year about the board's levy and grant proposals, the need for better consultation between the board and the industry, and other matters. My right hon. Friend discussed its views with the board chairman and had them in mind when considering the levy proposals. He has also assured the association that its representations will be further studied as part of the review of the work of the training boards.
