asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will state the number of production days lost due to industrial accidents in 1969 and in the present year to the nearest available date; and if he will make a statement on what action he is taking to reduce accidents.

About 9¼ million in 1969, from accidents reported from premises subject to the Factories Act. There is no estimate yet for 1970. No one line of action is likely to bring a dramatic reduction, but I should like to take this opportunity of saying that we welcome the study of these matters now being undertaken by Lord Robens's Committee
