HC Deb 12 November 1970 vol 806 c241W
73. Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the amount of finance under the urban aid programme made available to the London Borough of Brent for the current year, the amount actually given and the schemes submitted, together with costs for each.

Mr. Sharples

The council had been given approval by the end of the last financial year for £321,000 capital and £43,000 revenue expenditure, all qualifying for 75 per cent. grant under the urban programme. The amount of grant actually paid to the council during the present financial year will depend partly on the amount of capital charges and running costs actually falling on it from these schemes by the time the year is ended, and partly on the amount of expenditure that it will have incurred by then on any further schemes yet to be approved. Further schemes involving some £485,000 in capital and £81,000 revenue expenditure have been submitted by the council, and I hope that it will be possible soon to approve some of these for an early start.
