§ Mr. John Hannamasked the Minister of State for Defence whether he has completed the study of separation allowance for the Armed Forces recommended by the National Board for Prices and Incomes; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Lord BalnielThe study has been completed and proposals were submitted to the Board which has now made a further report. Copies are available in the Vote Office. The Board recommend major improvements in the conditions under which separation allowance will be paid, including for the first time provision for separation in the United Kingdom. Her Majesty's Government accept the Board's recommendations including the recommendation that the new arrangements should be introduced as soon as the necessary administrative arrangements can be made.
