§ Mr. Colemanasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if, in view of the widespread concern at drug taking amongst school children, he will take steps to institute an investigation into the problem in the schools of Scotland, so as to identify the size of the problem and to make recommendations as to its solution.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellInquiries earlier this year gave no reason to suppose that drug-taking is a serious problem in Scottish schools and, while I share the hon. Member's concern about misuse of drugs, I doubt whether a national survey in schools would serve a useful purpose at present. I will continue to watch the position carefully.
