HC Deb 10 November 1970 vol 806 cc92-3W
Mr. Leadbitter

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations have been made to him about the new charges for spectacles; and what reply he has sent.

Sir K. Joseph

I have received four letters. In my replies I am explaining that details of the charges are still under consideration, drawing attention to the arrangements for helping people who cannot afford to pay the charges, and making it clear that there will be no change in the present exemptions for children under 16 or attending school full-time.
