Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many applications under the National Insurance (Old Persons) Act, 1970, by men over 87 years of age and women over 82 years of age have been approved by those of his offices concerning persons resident in East Flintshire.

Mr. Dean

The details requested are not available because the areas covered by the local offices in Flintshire do not distinguish between East Flintshire and the rest. However the numbers of awards made under Section 1 of the Act up to and including 6th November, 1970 by the local offices in Flintshire are as follows:

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many applications by men over 87 years of age and women over 82 years of age under the National Insurance (Old Persons) Act, 1970 have been approved by Social Security offices in the Northern Region; and how many of those cases approved were already in receipt of supplementary benefits.

At 3rd November 4,710 applications for pensions under Section 1 of the National Insurance (Old persons' and widows' pension and attendance allowance) Act, 1970 had been approved by our offices in Northern Region; figures are not available on a regional basis of the number who were already receiving supplementary benefits.

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many applications by men over 87 years of age and women over 82 years of age under the National Insurance (Old Persons) Act, 1970 have been approved by Social Security officers in Scotland, with separate figures by area; and how many of those cases approved were in receipt of supplementary benefits.
