HC Deb 10 November 1970 vol 806 c123W
Mr. Sillars

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how the Government's policy for higher minimum import prices for cereals and new import levy schemes for beef, mutton, lamb and certain milk products will improve farming incomes in Scotland; and what action he will take to ensure that farm workers share in the additional income.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

The new import levy system will improve the method of agricultural support. The broad aim of this policy is to ensure that producers get more of their return from the market and less from public funds. There are existing arrangements for determining farm workers' wages and conditions.
