HC Deb 09 November 1970 vol 806 c8W
58. Mr. Torney

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether, in order to stimulate employment, he will give assistance to the contracting industries of Bradford and surrounding areas of the West Riding.

65. Mr. Wilkinson

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry when he will announce plans to attract a greater diversity of industry to the West Riding wool textile district.

Mr. Anthony Grant

The Government have no plans for special assistance to individual industries in the West Riding. The Government's proposed investment incentives should improve employment prospects generally in the area, and I shall continue to operate a flexible i.d.c. policy to allow reasonable expansion by existing manufacturing firms and suitable new projects with close ties to the area.
