§ 57. Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will arrange for a survey of public opinion to be made on the question of metrication similar to that recently carried out on British Standard Time.
§ Mr. RidleyNo. That survey inquired into people's reactions to the practical operation of British Standard Time after two year's experience. Metrication is not a single decision. Large numbers of independent organisations are each free to take their own decision and the public will be able to consider the matter in the light of the forthcoming White Paper.
