HC Deb 09 November 1970 vol 806 c23W
Mr. George Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Wales (1) the date for the opening of the University Hospital, Cardiff; and the total number of staff which will be employed at this hospital when it is fully operative;

(2) how many nurses and doctors, respectively, will be needed to staff the new University Hospital at the Heath, Cardiff; and what number he has recruited from other Cardiff hospitals.

Mr. Peter Thomas

The University Hospital of Wales is expected to open during the summer of 1971. When fully operative, the total staff will be around 3,000, which will include about 200 doctors and about 800 nurses.

Recruitment for the hospital is a matter for the Welsh Hospital Board and the University Hospital of Wales (Cardiff) Hospital Management Committee.
