HC Deb 09 November 1970 vol 806 c52W
Mr. Judd

asked the Minister of State for Defence whether he will make a statement on the rôle of the Port Auxiliary Service in coping with the consequences of the recent "Pacific Glory" mishap.

Mr. Kirk

The Port Auxiliary Service tugs "Sampson", "Boxer" and "Setter" assisted with firefighting and salvage work. The tugs "Grinder" and "Steady", and the fleet tender "Beaulieu" assisted with dispersing oil pollution, while the tug "Sea Giant" was used for search and rescue duties.

The Port Auxiliary Service mooring and salvage vessel "Goldeneye", with the Port Shipping Master aboard, stood by "Pacific Glory" from a.m. 25th October and laid out anchors from her during the morning of 27th October.

The fleet tenders "Beaulieu", "Den-mead" and "Appleby" were helping to carry relief fire crews out to the tanker, while "Beaulieu" also carried members of the press on 25th October.
