HC Deb 09 November 1970 vol 806 c67W
Mr. McCartney

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimate he has made of the average weekly increase in the rents of existing local authority houses, in the event of housing subsidies being abolished, in the burgs of Clydebank, Bearsden, Milngavie, Kirkintilloch, Cumbernauld and the landward area of the county of Dunbarton.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

None. As was made clear in the statement to the House on 3rd November, we do not intend to abolish housing subsidies, but to re-direct them to those in greatest need.

If the hon. Gentleman advocates the abolition of housing subsidies, perhaps he will write to me about this.
