HC Deb 05 November 1970 vol 805 c411W
39. Sir D. Walker-Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether, having regard to the fact that the present procedures for adjustment of electoral boundaries cannot keep pace with demographic changes in constituencies and electoral areas, he will initiate legislation for the restoration of the timetable for reports enacted by Section 2 of the House of Commons (Redistribution of Seats) Act, 1949 but repealed by Section 7 of the Act of 1958.

Mr. Sharples

No. The considerations which prompted the House in 1958 to increase the interval between reviews still seem to my right hon. Friend to hold good.
