§ Mr. Kenneth Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether, in view of the serious build-up of rubbish in London and elsewhere, and the near approach of 5th November, he will make a special appeal to the public, and especially to owners of business premises, to keep accumulated litter and refuse off public pathways and roads or take other appropriate and urgent action.

The Home Office Fire Inspectorate is in touch with the chief fire officers in the main urban areas with a view to appropriate advice being given locally to parents and to owners and occupiers of residential, commercial and industrial property.
