§ 120. Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what proposals he has to improve the training and recruitment of staff to work within the prison system, particularly in Borstals, remand centres and detention centres.
§ Mr. CarlisleMy right hon. Friend does not think that the present arrangements for selecting officers for all parts of the prison service call for major amendment but he will keep them under close review. He attaches great importance to staff training, and proposes to expand the training programme as resources permit.
