HC Deb 03 November 1970 vol 805 c325W
Mr. Grylls

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what arrangements are being made to ensure payment of the new age-related pensions for the under-50 widows to all those entitled.

Mr. Dean

These pensions are to be paid from April, 1971. We are in contact with the majority of widows concerned because they are already receiving the 30s pension and the Department will be writing to these widows between now and the end of the year to tell each one of her entitlement. For the other widows concerned claims will be necessary. Early in the New Year there will be a publicity campaign inviting widows who have not heard from the Department to claim the new pensions.
