HC Deb 03 November 1970 vol 805 c341W
Sir J. Langford-Holt

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many parking tickets have been received by the Protocol Department of the Foreign Office from diplomatic missions with a demand for diplomatic immunity for payment of statutory fines; and from which five missions the largest number of such demands are received.

Mr. Anthony Royle

Police records indicate that during the period from 1st April to 30th September, 1970, there were 10,509 cases of cancellation of fixed penalty notices in respect of members of diplomatic missions.

The five missions in respect of which the largest numbers of cancellations were made are (in alphabetical order) Ghana, Hungary, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Uganda. However, some missions have more difficult parking problems than others.
