HC Deb 03 November 1970 vol 805 cc341-2W
Mr. Laurance Reed

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether agreement has yet been reached with France on the division of the Continental Shelf around the Channel Islands.

Mr. Anthony Royle

No. There have been discussions between the French Government and ourselves since 1964, when the Convention on the Continental Shelf came into force, on the division of the continental shelf in this and other areas. The question of the Channel Islands is complicated by a number of special circumstances, and it is not possible to promise an early solution.
