HC Deb 02 November 1970 vol 805 cc260-1W
63. Earl of Dalkeith

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what has been the total estimated cost to Her Majesty's Government of supplying arms and relieving suffering in Nigeria from the outbreak of the Civil War to the present time.

Mr. Anthony Royle

Arms supplied by this country during the civil war were provided on a normal commercial basis, at no cost to Her Majesty's Government. Aid for the direct relief of suffering connected with the war, over and above our normal aid programme to Nigeria, has totalled £3,608,000 so far.
