HC Deb 02 November 1970 vol 805 c261W
64. Sir E. Bullus

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on Anglo-Chinese relations, following the recent celebrations by the Chinese of the 21st anniversary of the Communist revolution.

Mr. Anthony Royle

Our relations with China are showing some improvement. In view of this I was asked by my right hon. Friend to attend the Chinese National Day reception in London. We should like to see a further improvement in relations, but the continued detention of British subjects in China is a serious obstacle.
