HC Deb 02 November 1970 vol 805 c247W
Mr. Bishop

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will give a general direction to area boards to use their powers under Section 29 of the Electricity Act, 1957, to control the price at which electricity supplied by them is resold to tenants, sub-tenants, guests and others in order to avoid evasion of rent control.

Sir J. Eden

Maximum prices at which electricity may be resold were fixed by electricity boards in 1965. Proposals for making the control more effective have been circulated by the Department to interested organisations, and the replies are now being studied.
