asked the Leader of the House:

Whether he will make a statement about televising and broadcasting the State Opening of the first Session of the new Parliament.

THE LORD PRIVY SEAL (LORD SHACKLETON)

Her Majesty The Queen has been graciously pleased to give Her consent to a proposal, which has the support of the Government and of the Opposition, that the State Opening of the new Parliament should be broadcast on colour television and sound radio. The arrangements are being concerted with the authorities concerned.
