HL Deb 29 May 1970 vol 310 c1237WA
LORD FERRIER

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What steps the Scottish Development Department are taking to reconstruct the notorious crossroads at Melbourne Toll, on the A702 Road, and whether, in view of the continuing series of fatal and serious motor accidents there, they will treat the matter as urgent.

THE MINISTER OF STATE, SCOTTISH OFFICE (LORD HUGHES)

We propose to reconstruct the crossroads at Melbourne Toll as part of the approved trunk road programme for the current financial year. The new junction is now being designed, and Lanark County Council, as agent authority, will shortly be invited to prepare the formal scheme.
