§ Mr. Kenneth Bakerasked the Minister of Transport what progress is being made on the two Ministry of Transport flyovers at Savoy Circus and at Horn Lane on the A40.
Mr. Bob Brown:Both schemes are held up by consideration of representations made by the Greater London Council in respect of properties not physically affected by the schemes but of which it is alleged that their amenities will be adversely affected by noise from and visual intrusion of the flyovers.
We have asked the G.L.C. to identify these properties to enable us to consider possible solutions.

§ Mr. Kenneth Bakerasked the Minister of Transport how many houses will be affected by the building of the two flyovers on the A40 at Savoy Circus and at Horn Lane; how many of these will be purchased by his Department; and what will be done to them after the purchase.
Mr. Bob Brown:The Gipsy Corner (Horn Lane) scheme is likely to need land from 81 properties, but only one house would need to be demolished.
I cannot yet say what property may be needed for the Western Circus (Savoy Circus) proposal.
Where the scheme requires only a strip of front garden we would seek to acquire the exact area of land needed for the scheme. We would, however, consider representations from any owner who considered we should acquire his complete property; if we did so we would retain only the land needed for the road and seek to sell the remainder.
