§ Mr. Berryasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will change the regulations governing the age allowance for the severely disabled, thereby enabling war pensioners over 65 years of age whose disablement is from 20 563W per cent. to 40 per cent. to receive an increased allowance.
§ Mr. Ennals:No. The age allowance payable under War Pensions Instruments at the age of 65 to pensioners suffering from disablement assessed at at least 40 per cent. is intended solely to make life a little easier for elderly pensioners who have for a long time endured serious disablement. It is not awarded on medical grounds: any worsening of a pensioned disablement is reflected in an increased basic pension.
