HC Deb 28 May 1970 vol 801 c524W
Mr. Stratton Mills

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what steps have been taken to protest to the Republic of Ireland Government about the operation of Eire Army security forces in Northern Ireland; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. George Thomson:

The Irish Ambassador called at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office on 20th May. As a result of discussions between the Government of Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom Government, appropriate representations were made to the Government of the Irish Republic concerning the statement made by the Prime Minister of the Irish Republic in the Dail on 14th May about the presence of Irish Army Intelligence Officers in Northern Ireland. This matter has also been the subject of subsequent discussions between Her Majesty's Ambassador in Dublin and the Irish authorities.
