HC Deb 28 May 1970 vol 801 c524W
Sir R. Russell

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what reply he has received from the Government of Uganda to his communication following their announcement about the proposed take-over of British import and export businesses.

Mr. Foley:

Our communication to the Uganda Government did not call for any specific reply. The Uganda Government have no doubt noted that we have reserved all our rights under customary international law to prompt, adequate and effective compensation for property in Uganda of United Kingdom nationals which is compulsorily acquired by the Uganda Government.
