Mr. Tilney

asked the Minister of Technology what steps he now proposes to take to increase industrial activity in the development areas in the North-West, in view of the latest unemployment figures there.

Mr. Varley:

The full range of development area incentives continues to be available for industrial expansion on Merseyside and in Furness, and the Government take every opportunity to bring the advantages of locating there to the notice of suitable firms.
