HC Deb 28 May 1970 vol 801 c571W
Mr. Cronin

asked the Minister of Technology if he will introduce amending legislation so as to enable compensation to be paid to the inhabitants of houses affected by mining subsidence, for personal inconvenience, impairment of health and damage to furniture and fittings.

Mr. Harold Lever:

Legislation is not a practicable solution to this problem but the N.C.B. has instructed its staff to act sympathetically and generously where subsidence has caused personal hardship.
