HC Deb 28 May 1970 vol 801 cc535-6W
Mr. John Fraser

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what was the total amount of Government financial aid to the London Borough of Lambeth in 1969; and how this compares with 1963.

Mr. Greenwood:

Because of the reorganisation of London government from 1st April, 1965 it is not possible to give the grant figures for 1963–64 for the area now within the London Borough of Lambeth.

The rate support grants for 1969–70 amounted to £5,408,951, after deducting the part of the needs element transferable to the Greater London Council, amounting to £3,201,202. Housing grants totalled £756,953. No other grant figures for that year are yet available.

Grants for 1965–66 corresponding to rate support grants amounted to £4,762,705, apart from the school milk and meals grant which was paid to the Inner London Education Authority. Housing grants in that year amounted to £451,172.
