asked the Secretary of State for Defence what is his latest estimate for overseas defence spending this year after including the military

Mr. Richard:

Information in respect of the eleven active Royal Ordnance Factories administered by the Ministry of Defence is set out below. The value of their output, totalling almost £M46 in 1969–70, excludes the value—about £M27 —of equipment and material supplied to the R.O.F.s free of charge and incorporated in their products.

exercises in the Far East; and how this total compares with that of each of the three previous years.

Mr. Healey:

I have nothing to add to the figures given in Annex H to the Statements on the Defence Estimates for the years in question.

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will within three years take steps to reduce defence expenditure to the same proportion of the gross national product as obtains in France; and if he will estimate the annual saving in national expenditure.
