asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he is aware that there are still 192 tub closets in the County Borough of Huddersfield; and if he will authorise a grant-in-aid with the object of replacing them.

Mr. Freeson:

I am aware of this problem. The improvement grants scheme introduced by the Housing Act, 1969 enables the local authority to give grants towards replacing these closets by water closets.
